In 1901 he was living with his parents at 12 John Street Ettingshall. By 1911 the family were living at 14 John Street Ettingshall, and Geoffrey had a younger brother Arnold born in 1903; his father was employed as a newsagent and his mother a postmaster.
Before the war Geoffrey was employed as a clerk, he attested 5th June 1917, his papers record that Geoffrey was 5'11" tall with good physical development, he was placed in the Army reserve 6th June 1917. Geoffrey was mobilised 20th September 1917 and landed in France 22nd May 1918.
Killed in Action 23rd August 1918 aged 19.

For five days he kept his men efficient and cheerful under most difficult conditions and his personal pluck and courage inspired the whole company."
